This comprehensive class blends traditional woodworking techniques with practical, real-world home improvement applications, all in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment. Thanks to our intentionally small class size and personalized teaching approach, no two courses will ever be the same. We tailor the experience to meet your needs and goals — adjusting the pace, projects, and focus areas based on student input. While the course is designed to achieve the learning objectives outlined below, the class syllabus is flexible and may vary depending on the interests and priorities of each group.
Each class, you’ll receive expert instruction, guided practice, and the chance to create tangible projects you’ll actually use — from a custom cutting board or keepsake box to learning the foundational skills needed to build a porch, install trim, or tackle other home upgrades.
What You’ll Learn:
Welcome to the Workshop: Tools, Safety & Measuring Like a Pro - Learn how to safely navigate a real woodshop, handle tools properly, and measure accurately every time.
The Power of Precision: Mastering the Miter & Table Saw - Get hands-on experience using the miter saw and table saw to make clean, accurate cuts — essential skills for everything from deck-building to fine crafts.
Wood 101: Choosing the Right Wood & Designing with Purpose - Understand the differences between hardwoods and softwoods, how to pick the best boards, and how to plan and design your own simple woodworking project.
Curves, Detail & Creativity: Bandsaw, Scroll Saw & Shaping - Explore creative cuts using the bandsaw and scroll saw — perfect for shaping, detailing, and learning to work with curves and intricate designs.
Strong Joints Made Simple: Domino, Pocket Hole & Joinery Techniques - Learn to create strong, reliable joints using tools like the Festool Domino, pocket holes, and other accessible joinery methods for projects big and small.
Assembly & Finish: Bringing It All Together - Master sanding, correcting mistakes, and applying finishing touches that make your project shine. You’ll walk away with a completed piece you’re proud of.
Bonus: Real-World Home Improvement Know-How
Throughout the course, we’ll integrate practical applications — like how to install a landing, build a simple deck, or make minor home repairs — so you leave not only with a great project but the confidence to tackle real work at home.
No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity — we’ll provide the tools, materials, and expert guidance.
Space is limited — reserve your spot today and start building the skills (and the projects!) you’ve always wanted to try.
