It's for the Squirrels (and Nature's Nursery)

In this special hands-on workshop, you’ll create a squirrel nest that will be donated to Nature’s Nursery and used to support the care of orphaned, injured, or recovering squirrels. These nests provide a safe, warm, enclosed space for young squirrels who are being rehabilitated after losing their natural nests due to storms, tree removal, injury, or other circumstances beyond their control.

This is a meaningful project with a real purpose. While you won’t take your finished build home, the nest you create will become part of the care and comfort offered to wildlife in need as Nature’s Nursery helps prepare them for a healthy return to the wild.

During the workshop, you’ll use real woodworking tools with guidance and safety instruction provided throughout the process. No prior woodworking experience is needed. We’ll walk you through each step, from building the nest to attaching the necessary hardware.

Each workshop is limited to 8 squirrel nests due to space in the wood shop. Nests are designed as individual projects, but if you plan to bring a partner to help with your build, please let us know when registering.

As part of the experience, you’ll be invited to attach a simple engraved plaque to your nest, adding a personal touch before it is delivered to Nature’s Nursery. It’s a small reminder that this project was made by someone who cared enough to build something meaningful for wildlife in need.

Cost is $60 per squirrel nest project and includes all materials, hardware, instruction, and use of tools.
