What to Expect

Where creativity creates connection.

CAMP for ALL is an inclusive, hands-on workshop experience for kids ages 8–18, created through a partnership between the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio, Inspired Lumber Workshop, and the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

This unique program brings neurodiverse and neurotypical children together in a fun, creative environment where they can build, paint, choose, try, and create side by side. Each workshop is centered around a seasonal wood project provided by Inspired Lumber Workshop, but the experience is about much more than the finished piece. It is about confidence, creativity, understanding, and giving kids a shared experience that helps connection happen naturally.

During each two-hour workshop, participants are loosely guided through the project process while still having plenty of room to make their own creative choices. Kids will have access to a wide variety of colors, finishes, and design options, allowing each project to become as unique as the child who made it.

CAMP for ALL is intentionally designed to break down barriers between neurodiverse and neurotypical children through a non-traditional, hands-on experience. Instead of sitting across from one another and being asked to connect, kids work beside one another. They choose paint colors, share ideas, use tools, laugh through the messy parts, and experience the simple joy of making something with their own hands.

Each workshop welcomes up to 15 participants. To support the inclusive purpose of the program, 10 spaces are reserved for children who are eligible to receive services through the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and 5 spaces are reserved for neurotypical peer participants who are not eligible for those services. This intentional structure creates an environment where children of different abilities, communication styles, and lived experiences can participate together in a meaningful and balanced way.

No woodworking experience is necessary. All materials, supplies, and project guidance are provided. The workshop is designed to be welcoming, flexible, and supportive, with staff and volunteers available to help participants throughout the experience.
