How does membership work?
Once you've completed the Safety Class or Intro to Woodworking Class (based on your experience level), you're ready to unlock full access to our workshop! Whether you're crafting solo or working on your next big creation, you'll have the freedom and flexibility to bring your ideas to life—just like a pro!

Is there a contract?
No contracts! However, all Members and Workshop or Class attendees are required to sign our Inspired Lumber Workshop Release & Liability Waiver before accessing the shop. Members are also required to acknowledge and agree to our Terms of Use Agreement.

How long do my hours last?
Hours must be used within 90 days of your first Wood Shop sign-in, which must be within 30 days of completion of Safety/Intro to Woodworking Class. If you use up all of your hours before the 90 days, you may purchase additional hours at any time. The 90-day window resets with each package purchase.

Are there any kinds of wood that are not able to be used at the Workshop?
We do not have any hard limits on the types of wood that can be used in the Workshop, however, some woods have a higher toxicity level than others and may cause respiratory irritation. Some reclaimed wood may contain mold, insects, or nails/screws that may not be visible. If this is the case, then Inspired Lumber Workshop reserves the right to refuse the use of such materials in the Wood Shop.

What is your policy on children in the Workshop?
Wood Shop - Children 12 and over are welcomed and encouraged to take wood shop classes and are eligible to become a Member in the Wood Shop after completing the requisite Intro to Woodworking Class. Children 12 and over MUST BE accompanied by a responsible MEMBER adult at all times in the Workshop, that has also completed the required Intro to Woodworking Class and must have their own package of hours.
Crafting Workshops - Children are welcome to attend any of our Crafting Workshops as a registered participant making their own projects. The Workshop is a working Wood Shop and safety is our first priority.

Can I bring my own tools to use in the Wood Shop?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own hand tools or specialty tools to use while you are at the Workshop. We get it! We all have our favorites. If you choose to store your personal tools with your project supplies in our on-site storage, you do it at your own risk. Inspired Lumber Workshop is not and will not be responsible for lost or stolen tools, wood or supplies.

Can I store my materials or projects?
Inspired Lumber Workshop offers limited storage for Members as part of the Member packages. Stipulations - must be active member with time remaining and within 90 days. Members will be issued a Member bin that will be theirs to store their supplies while in active member status. Space is tight at the Workshop as we navigate our growing business, so we encourage members to limit their storage to what is needed in the short term. And we will be asking everyone to help keep the Workshop clean by tidying up your workspaces and your storage spaces. Please take the time and help us out. We really appreciate it.

Can I bring a guest with my membership?
We love when members share the Workshop with others! Guests are welcome to visit with you, but due to safety regulations, their access to tools will be limited unless they have completed our required Safety & Intro to Woodworking class. Whenever possible, please let us know in advance if you’re bringing a guest so we can be there to say hello and welcome them!

Can I work on any kind of project?
We love creativity, but projects must be safe for you, other makers, and the shop environment. We do not allow projects that involve weapons, hazardous materials, or anything that could compromise the safety or comfort of other members. If you're not sure whether your project fits, just ask — we’re happy to help you find a way to bring your vision to life safely!

Can I use the space for commercial work?
Our Workshop is designed primarily for personal use and creative exploration, but we proudly encourage small business development too! If you're working on small-scale commercial projects — like building products for a craft fair, Etsy shop, or local market — we would love to support you. Please contact us in advance if you plan to create items intended for sale, as there are usage fees associated with specific tools (i.e. CNC, Laser Engraver). Use of the Workshop for full-time production is not permitted without a formal signed agreement and proof of liability insurance. We're here to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity, and craftsmanship — and we want to be part of your small business journey!

Can I sell what I make?
Yes! Members can consign their handmade items in our Inspired Workshop Marketplace (coming soon). We'll help you showcase your work to the community and provide a platform to connect with local buyers who appreciate handmade, quality products.
Please note the following:
-
All items for consignment must be made within the Workshop using our tools and space.
-
Members are responsible for credit card fees, licensing, taxes, and any permits related to their sales.
-
We do not guarantee sales, but we will work with you to promote your work and support local entrepreneurship.
-
Consignment agreements will include terms for commission rates and payment schedules.
-
After 90 days, any unsold items will be returned to the member unless both parties mutually agree to extend the consignment.
Support local! By selling through the Inspired Workshop Marketplace, you’re not only growing your business but also contributing to a vibrant local community of makers and shoppers who value creativity and craftsmanship.

Do you offer custom work or services?
We sure do! Need a special cut, a repair, or help with a small custom build? Our team can assist with custom services for a fee. Contact us to discuss your project needs, and we'll let you know if it’s something we can accommodate.
Custom service availability may vary based on staff schedules, workload, and material needs.

Can outside instructors teach classes?
Yes! We welcome guest instructors who want to share their skills with our community. If you’re interested in teaching in the Wood Shop or Crafting Studio, please email InspiredLumber@gmail.com with the following details:
-
What you would like to teach
-
Why you want to teach it
-
Expected cost per student
-
How you will promote your class
All guest teachers must be active members of Inspired Lumber Workshop. Instructors will be juried by the owners, who reserve the right to accept or deny any request for any reason, at any time. Guest instructors are responsible for:
-
Providing all materials and supplies needed for the class
-
Setting up and cleaning up the classroom before and after the session
-
Collecting class registration fees and managing communications with attendees
Inspired Lumber Workshop will assess a per-person fee for each student registered. The fee amount will be determined upon review. All projects made in class must be removed by the end of the session. No overnight curing or drying is allowed unless previously agreed upon. All guest instructors must provide proof of liability insurance and sign a facility use agreement before teaching.
We look forward to seeing the creativity you bring to the workshop!

Are staff available to help?
Absolutely! Our staff is here to ensure a safe and productive workshop experience. We're happy to guide you on tool use, provide safety supervision, and offer general project support. However, please note that while we’re happy to show you the basics of using our CNC and Laser Engraver, all ready-to-cut artwork should be emailed to the Workshop or brought in on a USB drive in JPG, PNG, or SVG formats. These file types are generally compatible and can be easily converted into cut files.

If you’d like help designing graphics or need 1:1 support for your project, we’re here for you! However, any 1:1 work must be scheduled in advance, and additional fees will apply for any custom design, cutting, or burning requests.

Remember, we don’t offer hands-on assistance for all projects unless it’s part of a class or service, but we’re always available to make sure you’re using tools safely and effectively. Always check in if you're unsure!

Can memberships be paused, extended or refunded? We understand that life happens, and we're happy to work with you if something unexpected comes up, like an extended vacation, illness, or injury. While membership hours expire after 90 days, hours may be extended or paused if you're unable to use the workshop due to these types of situations. Please call the Workshop for more information. Since we're a small business, we don't offer refunds. Just talk to us. We're nice people.

Are there membership limits?
Yes — we intentionally limit the number of memberships to keep the Workshop comfortable, accessible, and well-equipped for everyone. If we reach capacity, new members will be placed on a waitlist and notified as soon as a space becomes available.
We reserve the right to pause or adjust memberships as needed to maintain safety, quality, and access for our current members.
