Inspired Lumber Workshop provides a new and unique service to the northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan communities. As a new concept, comes lots of questions. We have provided a list of the most commonly asked questions and their answers below, but if you have any additional questions, please call us at 419.754.1408.
Q: What is a membership-based wood shop and creative space?
A: A membership-based wood shop and creative space is a facility that provides access to woodworking tools and equipment, as well as a shared workspace for individuals to work on their creative projects.
Q: How does the membership work?
A: An Inspired Lumber Workshop membership allows individuals to pay a daily or monthly fee which gives them access to our wood shop and creative space during regular operational hours.
Q: Are members required to sign a contract?
A: No. Members are not required to sign a contract for membership, however, membership plans (Monthly, Monthly PRO, Per Diem, etc.) are specific to hours of access in the Workshop and cannot be prorated. A Membership Agreement, Liability Waiver and Terms of Use forms must be signed acknowledging safety and usage guidelines and rules within the Workshop. Should someone exceed their purchased limit, additional time may be purchased per the Terms of Use document. Please email inspiredlumber@gmail.com to receive a copy of thes forms.
Q: Does Inspired Lumber Workshop offer classes?
A: Yes! Inspired Lumber Workshop offers classes across a wide range of mediums, including wood shop, crafting, skills classes, painting, stained-glass, resin and more.
Q: Do I have to be a member to take classes at Inspired Lumber Workshop?
A: No. You do not need to be a member of Inspired Lumber Workshop to attend our classes, although active members will receive a discount on most classes.
Q: Can I book a Private Event at Inspired Lumber Workshop?
A: Yes! And we encourage them. We can custom design an event just for your group. Girl's Nights, bridal or baby showers. birthday parties, corporate events, fundraisers, scout troops, homeschool groups and more. Please give us a call at 419.754.1408 to talk through options, prices and dates.
Q: Can beginners join the wood shop and creative space?
A: Absolutely! Our wood shop and creative space welcomes individuals of all skill levels, including beginners. We offer classes and resources to help beginners learn woodworking techniques. "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!"
Q: What tools and equipment are available in the wood shop?
A: Our wood shop is fully equipped with a wide range of woodworking tools, including saws, drills, sanders, routers, and more. We also provide safety equipment such as goggles and ear protection.
Q: Are there any age restrictions for joining the wood shop and creative space?
A: We have age restrictions for safety purposes. Individuals must be at least 18 years old to join the wood shop and creative space. Children 16 and over, when accompanied by an adult member, may work in the workshop once they pass the required safety course and show proficiency with tool usage.
Q: Can I bring my own materials and projects?
A: Yes. In fact, unless you are working on a project that is part of a class, all consumables (wood, vinyl, acrylic, etc.) are the responsibility of the member to provide. However, we do have some restrictions on certain hazardous materials, so please inquire with our wood shop staff before making purchases of materials that could be considered questionable. With regard to classes, all materials are provided.
Q: Can I store my unfinished projects or materials in the wood shop?
A: We provide storage space for members to safely store their ongoing projects and materials. However, availability may vary, so please check with our staff for more information.
Q: Does Inspired Lumber Workshop offer services or custom builds?
A: Yes! Inspired Lumber Workshop is happy to help customers in need of services, including wood cuts, special projects, repairs and more. Please stop into the Workshop or give us a call at 419.754.1408 for more information.
Q: When is Inspired Lumber Workshop open?
A: Our Hours of Operation are: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM; Sunday, 12:00 -5:00 PM, Closed Mondays.
Q: Where is Inspired Lumber Workshop located?
A: We have a limited number of memberships available to ensure a comfortable and productive environment. Once we reach capacity, we may have a waiting list for interested individuals.
Q: If I am a member, can I bring a guest with me to the wood shop?
A: No. Memberships are for individual access only. However, we provide a Member Add-On option that allows for an additional person(s) to be added to your membership for an upcharge which provides all the same rights and privileges. Member Add-On’s must take the required Safety Class to gain access.
Q: Are there any restrictions on the types of projects I can work on?
A: As long as your project aligns with our safety guidelines and doesn't disrupt other members' work, you are free to work on a wide range of woodworking and crafting projects. Our intention is to build a robust community of creative individuals that are willing and able to share their talents and experiences with others.
Q: Do you allow outside artists to teach classes at the Workshop?
A: Yes. We have a classroom that accommodates up to 18 students, dependent upon space needs. If you are interested in teaching a class at Inspired Lumber Workshop, please call us at 419.754.1408 or email inspiredlumber@gmail.com with samples of your work.
Q: Is personal protective equipment provided?
A: Yes, we provide personal protective equipment such as safety goggles, ear protection, and masks. However, we recommend bringing your own for maximum comfort and hygiene.
Q: Can I sell the items I make at the wood shop?
A: Absolutely! Our members are encouraged to sell their handmade items created at our Workshop in our Marketplace. The Marketplace is consignment-based. If you are interested in selling your products within our Marketplace, please let us know. However, it's important to clarify any legal and licensing requirements that may apply to selling your products.
Q: Are there staff members available to assist and provide guidance?
A: Yes, our wood shop has knowledgeable staff members who can provide guidance, answer questions, and ensure a safe and productive environment for all members.
Q: Are there any restrictions on the hours of operation?

Q: Can I use the wood shop for commercial purposes?
A: Our wood shop is primarily intended for personal use, but we do offer some options for commercial use. Please contact our staff to discuss your specific needs and requirements.
